At Island Escapes we specialise in helping guests find their "perfect island escape” on the Isle of Man. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce a new remote and unique property to our collection..."Chicken Rock Lighthouse"
Blog post from April Fools Day - 1st April 2019
Ideal for the adventurer “Chicken Rock Lighthouse” 44 metres high and built in 1874 is situated 2.8 miles south west of the mainland of the Isle of Man. Accessible by only kayak or a boat (if you jump off quickly) this isolated rock provides a different type of Island Escape to most other properties in our portfolio.
There is no point in bringing too much luggage as a climb up a steep ladder to the doorway is required (head for heights needed) in order to access the property where you’ll find the key safe box conveniently located beside the front door. On entry you’ll find a choice of bedrooms, kitchen and dining room on the various floors of this spacious nautical building. The light room provides an excellent viewing platform, but please be aware that this is still a fully functioning lighthouse so care should be taken to ensure no hinderance to regular operations.

Being a local holiday cottage letting agency we always operate a very hands on approach to managing our properties, our housekeepers, trained in advanced sea kayaking negotiate the strong tidal currents to ensure the property is clean and tidy for each changeover. The standard welcome pack we provide for each of our properties is replaced with a survival pack, because whilst you may have only booked a 2 night stay, it is quite feasible you’ll end up stuck here for weeks at a time with only the seals and seabirds for company.
We always recommend guests take out travel insurance to cover any unexpected events which may disrupt their holiday, however for those staying here it is essential. After all a short visit that turns into a month long stay could be costly!
Bookings for Chicken Rock can only be made via email at this time, as we need to ensure all guests are suitably adventurous. Please contact us for more information.
